Walking the Planes: Play Correctly
Before you make a play, how much do you think about it? How do you know it’s the right move? Magic is a deeply strategic game, and playing correctly is harder than you think. Gaming Accessory - 3D printed Life Counter
Link love for a fellow Canadian (just an hour south of me in Toronto) - Hugh from the O.D.D. Shoppe (and also Squire Sword / Standee People) has this rather lovely life counter he has recently started producing. Here’s the 4.1.1. -
LIFECOUNT is a 3 part life counter, with interchangeable life totals to be useful to a number of table top games. It counts from 1-20, and 21-40 through a view-able window on either side of the counter. Additionally it has two asymmetrical top and bottom, allowing for the counter to also be used as a coin for those moments when you need one without losing count if your precious life total!
The size of the counter is: 2” x 2” x 0.3” and easily to fit inside your pocket or any card gamer’s deck box.
The counter is printed in amazingly high detail using 3D printing out of high quality resin. And the components can be dyed a variety of colors that best suits your table top mood.

This line graph shows the (generally very straight) increase in how many distinct Magic cards there are.
Very basic extrapolation says that 1.81 cards are created per day, which would project the 14,000th card on 18th September 2014 (i.e. the October large set).
The 20,000th card is due to…
Another milestone to celebrate! As a special thank you to all of my now 400 followers, I present you another in my series of Gurren Lagann planeswalkers. This time it’s Yoko, or rather her mild-mannered alter-ego, Yomako-sensei.
For the colors, I figured a teacher pursues knowledge, so that’s blue, but she’s still got a lot of spontaneity, warranting some red. After that, I just imagined what a teacher’s responsibilities are for her three abilities. +2: Impart knowledge… most of which is lost immediately. 0: Assign homework, resulting in either a boost or a drain for the student. -6: Check homework and correct it. As with all of these cards, I wanted to do something no card has ever done before and “gain control of target opponent’s hand” seemed appropriate.
